Back home...and Snow!

Well, I finally got everything moved into the ranch house yesterday! YAY! We have about 4 inches of snow on the ground, and it was all of 13 degrees out when I went to feed this morning. All of our horses have settled in nicely, and everyone has gained weight. We are feeding hay, but the horses spend most of the time out on the pasture, digging through the snow for the last bits of grass underneath. Everything looks so clean with a layer of white snow on top.

The NRHA Futurity was amazing. I watched Tim McQuay win it with Carol Rose's horse Shining N Sassy. Cody Sapergia was reserve with an awesome run on The Great Tag. Personally, I think that Cody should have won it, his horse seemed to read his mind, and he barely touched the reins. The entire ride seemed to have more finesse than Tim's. My throat hurt after cheering for Cody, thats for sure!

It was so cool to see these horses performing maneuvers like this, and then thinking that they are only 3 years old. It is amazing what horses will do for us. I am convinced that some of them loved hearing the crowd cheer for them, their ears would go up and they'd arch their necks a bit, as if saying "thats right, cheer louder!"

Christmas is getting closer, and we are planning a barn party for the boarders to make peppermint bran mashes for the horses, decorate the barn. We will have hot chocolate and cookies for all the people too. One of our boarders has already made the cutest Christmas Stocking for all the horses.

Hope everyone is trying to enjoy the snow, and staying warm!
